Cut your fabrics based on the size of mask that you are needing. The face mask pattern has sizes for adult, teen, child and extra large adult. It's fun to make the coordinately face mask storage pouch too! Really any cotton fabrics will do!
I love using the point to point turner to get my corners sharp after trimming the extra fabric off.
If you can't find elastic, remember that you can use knit t-shirt fabric cut in 1 inch strips and stretched. If buying knit fabric you want to get a 4 way stretch knit. At the Stitches Quilting Online Store look for Riley Blake Knit Fabrics available in stock. I typically use a 1/4 inch wide elastic but you can also try corded elastic and hair bands too.
Be sure to top stitch around your mask after turning it inside out. A top stitch makes washing and wearing of your mask durable.
The fabrics that I used to make these face masks were the Navy Blue Pillow Ticking and Iron Solid Riley Blake Fabric.
I LOVE the handy dandy face mask storage pouch as I don't particularly like putting a used mask in my purse.
